Seven Servings of Tasty Thanksgiving Haiku Poems

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but it’s not all gravy. Here is a sampling of the many moods it inspires.

A Mayflower Tragedy

What if the ship sank

Would cranberry sauce exist?

When would we eat it?

Because No Ovens

Did Pilgrims have pie?

Turkey, for sure; squash, maybe

But pie? Unlikely

A Cautionary Thanksgiving Tip

Plan now to eat less

So it’s not your pants button

Taking out an eye

Gratitude

I’m grateful for life

I’m thankful I have enough

Hope I always do

Hot Air at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Sponsored big balloons

Incite seasonal excess

Traditional tripe

Empty Chairs

Silent witnesses

To my cherished memories

When we were many

Essentials

Turkey, pumpkin pie,

Stuffing, potatoes, gravy

Extra syllables

Happy Thanksgiving!
